Changes to the Ballot
Keeping it simple is not stupid.
Two simple changes are made to the existing FPTP ballot.
- A second choice column is added.
- A 'None Of The Above' (none) option is added.
The voter's second choice never supercedes his first choice. If a voter's first choice candidate
is 'inactive', then
the second choice will be used.
The addition of the "None Of The Above" option means that there are no spoiled ballots
and total number of votes will remain constant.. If it's a ballot and it's in the box, it counts toward
the total vote count and helps determine what the Fixed-Post
will be. There are no wasted votes. Any ballot that does not clearly indicate a
candidate will be added to the 'None Of The Above' total.
Things that don't change.
- Ballot are still marked with an X or checkmark. (No need to decipher individual writing
styles).
- Electoral boundaries remain the same.
- One person still represents one riding.
